Her beauty and talent made (1926–1962) a superstar, but most don’t know about her restless creative soul and constant striving to develop her mind and hone her craft. Our Read & Write Notebook covers feature candid photos taken in her New York apartment by legendary photographer Milton H. Greene (1922–1985). (It is often said that Greene’s evocative images of MM revealed more facets of Marilyn’s complex personality than any other photographer. Greene would also become her producing partner and Vice President of Marilyn Monroe Productions.) This was a crucial time in Marilyn’s life, when she left Hollywood and moved to New York City to study acting with Lee Strasberg at the renowned Actors’ Studio, the training ground of Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift and James Dean. An avid reader and dedicated journal-keeper, Marilyn filled journal after journal with thoughts, dreams, Actors’ Studio class notes, and her original poetry. Set of 2 ruled notebooks.
